Family Tree
Digital projection and acrylic on paper mache

Artist Statement:
I titled this work, “Family Tree”, as in depicting my growth through adversity, I wanted to highlight family as my pillar of support. To me, the symbol of a tree represents not only growth, but also perhaps importantly, resilience. In exploring visual and spatial ways to break boundaries, I chose to work with paper mache that connects separate pieces of canvas together, and also use digital projections of shapes and symbols that hold personal significance to me.
This piece reminds me that as I grow both as an artist and a human being, I will push boundaries in my search for truth and purpose. However, no matter where I go or what I become, I know my family will always be my anchor. They are a part of me.
